Local Spotlight: Exotic Animals | Wichita by EB
A new pet store has opened at 4488 W. Kellogg Dr. in the same strip that houses Sketchers and Guitar Center. It’s called Exotic animals. This is actually the second location of the local pet store which is also located at 6254 E 37th St. N.
You may have seen the new store passing Kellogg. The big large EXOTIC ANIMALS sign is hard to miss. It has been over 30 years since I walked into a pet store like this. I was intrigued and decided to move on.
Exotic Pets is not your typical pet store. They sell hundreds of different species of reptiles and fish. There are amphibians, scorpions, tarantulas, insects and much more. They also carried many types of rare and exotic fish and reptiles that I had never heard of. And for those who buy the animals, they will likely need food and supplies. Exotic Pets has you covered there. It’s basically a one-stop-shop if you’re looking for a pet to take home and love.
There were posters everywhere. It was very cool to browse.
It was so cool that I stopped by the next day with my daughter to show her. There were some beautiful exhibits that she loved. For about 15 minutes, I felt bad for every customer who had to endure it by constantly repeating âfish !!!! “. But again, it was so cute that I really didn’t feel bad at all.
True story. Two weeks before entering Exotic Pets, I said, “We won’t have pets for a few years.” Raising a two-year-old is hard enough. But after seeing my daughter mesmerized by the fish, I may have quickly changed my tone.
Who news, we may be new pet owners in the near future. It’s crazy how kids can change their mind so quickly. If we pull the trigger on some new pets it can turn into a fish blog.
The new location of Exotic Pets is at 4448 W. Kellogg Dr. and can be reached at 316-440-0888. Their opening hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day of the week. For more information, check them out on Facebook or their website.
