Opening Halloween Horror Parties – NBC Los Angeles

What there is to know

  • Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood runs September 8 through October 31 (select nights)
  • Several haunted houses, including “The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare”, are part of the 2022 lineup
  • The traveling Terror Tram also returns, along with themed treats, monstrous merchandise and bizarre entertainment

Halloween Horror Nights: Peeking around the corners? We do it sometimes in our daily life, but there is rarely a scary space or a strange world on the other side. This spooky-themed spectacular is famous for spooky, and the spooky tradition continues with several haunted houses, including one inspired by The Weeknd, the Terror Tram exploring the backlot, entertainment, meals, sips, and more. Oh yes: And for the very first time, the Dementors will hide in the magical world of Harry Potter. The fun/fear begins September 8 for a multi-week run.

Six flags for Disneyland: More eerie scenes, both of the more extreme and the milder and weirder varieties, begin to haunt Southern California in early September. Six Flags Fright Fest opens in Valencia on September 10, with more than a dozen scary areas and haunted houses, plus all those famous roller coasters. And at The Happiest Place on Earth? It’s the second weekend of fall fun in Anaheim, with costumed characters, seasonal treats and a Haunted Mansion vacation. Both tickets and reservations are required to visit Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventure.

Expo D23: And right in front of Disneyland Resort? This mondo fan convention, which happily materializes every two years (although it’s been three years since the 2019 event), celebrates movies, theme parks, TV shows, home decor, cosplay, toys, pins and upcoming projects. It’s a veritable expo of everything you could dream of and more, so much so that tickets sell out faster than flying through Space Mountain. A centerpiece of the 2022 event, which sparkles from September 9 to 11? Walt Disney’s personal plane “The Mouse” will be on display, along with some artifacts from inside the plane.

Free Fun: Temperatures in the area will drop by Sunday, making it a balmy day to listen to the sounds outside. McCabe’s Guitar Shop presents a free series of free shows every Sunday in September, including one just ahead of 9/11. The afternoon event will feature McCabe’s Hootenanny Collective as well as music from AJ Lee and Blue Summit. And if you are in the vicinity of Ventura? A street painting festival will add pictorial panache to the pedestrian areas of Ventural Harbor Village. Hall? It’s completely free, although you may want some funds to eat, buy art, and other local treats.

“Hypercars” completes Part I: The most luxurious, fastest, chicest, coolest cars in the world? Don’t you see them every day, or even every year, and spy on one in the street? It will surely roll away moments after you spot it. But the Petersen Automotive Museum showcases some of the most luxurious cars on the planet with a two-part exhibit. Part I ends on September 11, while Part II will start on September 17. Haven’t seen the first set of shiny dream machines yet? Here’s your last chance before the new batch royally arrives.

Universal Studios and NBC-owned television stations operate under the same parent company NBCUniversal.
