To announce the arrival of Diamond Star Halosthe British quintet—Joe Elliot [vocals], Rick Wild [bass], Rick Allen [drums], Phil Collen [guitar]and Viviane Campbell [guitar]— have just shared a powerful and heartbreaking new rock single titled “Kick.“ The song plunges into an anthemic stadium-ready frenzy, kicking off with driving guitars and explosive drums woven into its musical fabric. Meanwhile, the chorus has all the makings of another iconic Leppard hit with its dizzying vocals and melodies the band has become synonymous with. The work for Diamond Star Halos is art in itself. The design follows the pedigree with their instantly recognizable album covers from their famous past. With images by world-renowned photographer and director Anton Corbijn, styling concepts by Maryam Malakpour and graphics by the British company Munden Brothersthe design really follows the band’s influence through their eyes today.
Stay tuned for the music video premiere very soon. Following the release of the album, Def Leppard will co-headline the huge 36 city The stadium tour with Motley Crue accompanied by special guests Poison and Joan Jett.
Over the past two years, Def Leppard checked in Diamond Star Halos simultaneously in three different countries with Jo in Ireland, Economy in Englandand Phil, Vivianeand grinding wheel in United States. Without the pressure of deadlines or a fixed schedule, they poured all their energy into creating 15 meaningful tracks with a blend of classic spirit and modern fire. Thematically, they nodded to their early collective influences such as david bowie, T.Rexand Mott the Hoople, among others. The title itself refers to T.Rexit’s “Bang a Gong (Go ahead).“ However, they did not embark on this journey alone. The multi-Grammy and legendary entertainer Alison Krauss lent his instantly recognizable and angelic voice to “This Guitar” and “Without life,“ while david bowie pianist mike garson performs on “Goodbye For Good This Time” and “Angels (can’t help you now).“
