If you want to see Metallica with 72,000 of your closest friends, you’ll have a chance this summer.
The heavy metal band, one of rock’s most enduring artists, has booked a show for 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 11 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
Two ticket presales, one for Legacy Fan Club members and one for General Fan Club members, begin February 28.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on March 4 on Ticketmaster.com. Prices have not been announced.
Grace Van Fleet and Ice Nine Kills will be the openers.

Metallica, which has won eight Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009, has previously performed at Bills Stadium twice, as part of the Monsters of Rock Tour in 1988 and with Guns N’ Roses in 1992. according to the Buffalo News. The band first visited the store in 1983 while recording their debut album, Kill them allin Rochester, when he was still unknown and struggling.
Metallica hasn’t played in Rochester since 1986, when it headlined a show at what is now Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial.
