Vernon Family Farm announces fall events


NEWFIELDS – Vernon Family Farm has a series of fall farm events including live music, local chicken and their popular Fire and Ice event.

The month kicks off with barbecue and roast chicken evenings on October 1 and 8 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. They play a mix of folk and soul originals and covers from the 50s, 60s and beyond.

Live music and food will continue on October 9 with a farmhouse fried chicken dinner with blues / rock / roots band Wellfleet. The band’s sound ranges from the bluesy rock of J. Geils Band, to the more pop vibe of Blues Traveler, with roots of The Band sprinkled into the mix. Customers can also order plates of fried chicken for a drive-through pickup that evening.

October 15 is the annual celebration of Fire and Ice, an event featuring live music by Artty Francoeur and rotating fire performances. Francoeur is known for his original American music, harmonica lamentations and guitars. Vernon Kitchen roast chicken and barbecue dinners will be available for the event, which is BYOB.

The last Fried Chicken Night of the season is scheduled for October 22 at the farm with Americana band Jake Davis & The Whiskey Stones. Customers can also order plates of fried chicken for a drive-through pickup that evening.

October 29 is another Vernon Kitchen on-farm roast chicken dinner with the option to BOYB and make it a night out. The music for this evening will feature The DoBros, whose style is a mix of country, rock, blues, bluegrass, funk and Americana.

Reservations are required for dinner at the farm this season. Hot roast chicken is available on the farm every Friday night, year round. The events are kid friendly, but please leave the pets at home, as a pasture poultry farm there are a lot of chickens roaming around and roaming around.

Vernon Family Farm is located at 301 Piscassic Road in Newfields, where their farm store is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily for local food purchases. Updated information is available on their Facebook pages and Instagram.
