You only have 20 dollars in your pocket? List of places to visit on National Thrift Day

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Do you live in or around New Orleans? Do you like shopping? Are you on a budget and looking to find a bargain?

August 17 is National Thrift Day and there are plenty of places you can shop if you “only have $20 in your pocket”. Whether you’re looking for a date outfit or looking for something vintage or trendy, there are plenty of thrift stores to choose from in the Big Easy.

Here is a list of places where you can shop during the national holiday:

  • Junks Above in Mid City: You can get a variety of ‘junk’, some of the items you can buy are framed artwork, records, board games and furniture.
  • Buffalo Exchange: You can buy trendy vintage clothes and accessories.
  • The Encore store: you can buy something for every occasion. Whether you’re going to a Mardi Gras ball or need a pair of rain boots.
  • Goodwill: There are a variety of used items to choose from. Clothing, furniture and more can be found.
  • Oddz N Endz: Furniture, shoes and clothing, and more.
  • Glue New Orleans: guitars, music accessories and fashion for men and women.
  • Funky Monkey: wigs, costumes and clothing for men and women.

In addition to looking to buy new treasures, the majority of businesses listed will also accept goods that you no longer want. “The misfortune of some is the happiness of others.”
